JP-JPR (aka Jean-Pierre Jeanpierre ) is a blues/rock folk solo acoustic project born in 2014,after I moved in Lyon area. So here the story of a western french hillybilly far from his lands!
As an experimented guitarist in the metal / hardcore french scene for more than 15 years (former guitarist of Crawling in Sludge) I wanted with this new project to enlarge my musical influences without any pressure and constraint but my voice and my guitar. Therefore, you can find a bunch a influences in my style from classical music to metal or hiphop, but mostly blues, rock and folk music.
The first album "On my Way" recorded in september 2015 at home is the result of more than a year of composing and songwriting and is available online here since dec. 2nd 2015.
The overhall impression of the musical atmosphere doesn't remain far from the actual blues scene (William Elliot Whitmore, Scott H Biram, Kelly Joe Phelps, Björn Berge, Seasick Steve,...) But I guess you will feel sometimes as well a persistance of my metalhead tastes for bands like Alice in Chains, Down, Neurosis or Clutch.
As a 100% guitarist before, singing was quite a big challenge for me! Inside my head, I've tried to mix Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Eddy Vedder And Lemmy Killmister (RIP) but inside my throat, this is my own tone of voice anyway! So here's the result!
About the texts, I've always loved writing since I was a kid, I 've made the personal and logical choice to write in english, according to the musical style. Nothing political or proselityc in here! I simply try to translate in words how I feel when I play: freedom, sharing, respect, frendship, excess an parties!
